Your data, your choices.

Request access, correction, export or deletion of personal information held by Citation. Understand the steps, account verification and what each action changes.

Choose what you need.

The request goes to Citation’s operator. You can describe several related needs in the same message.

Access your information

Ask what personal information is associated with your account, how it is used and which service providers are involved.

From your request to a response.

1. Describe the scope

Write from the account email where possible. Explain the action you want, the relevant feature and the account or content involved. Do not send passwords, access tokens, payment card details or full private documents.

2. Confirm authority

We may ask for information needed to verify identity or your authority to act. We use verification for the request and do not disclose protected account information to an unverified requester.

3. Review the records

We determine which records are controlled by Citation, which may belong to an organization using the service and which providers need to be involved. Your applicable privacy rights and the nature of the request determine the response requirements.

4. Explain the outcome

We respond with the action taken, any remaining retention or limitation and the next step if clarification is needed. Requests are handled under the applicable legal time limits; we explain any lawful extension when it applies.

For questions, contact alptekin@citation.co or use the contact form.

Understand what each action changes.

Save any work you want to keep before requesting deletion. Document exports include DOCX, PDF and TXT; reference exports include BibTeX and RIS. The export guide explains the supported controls.

Changing document access can close a shared view, but it cannot retrieve copies someone has already downloaded. Disconnecting a tool and deleting data held by that tool are separate actions. Account deletion also differs from canceling a paid subscription.

Read the retention policy, privacy choices and provider list. The GDPR, KVKK and California privacy pages explain the related frameworks.

Questions about your data.

Does exporting a document delete it?

No. Export creates a copy in the selected format. It does not remove the original document, uploaded files or account information.

Will disconnecting an integration remove its copies?

Disconnecting changes future access. Information already copied or exported to another service may need to be removed through that service’s own controls.

Can I request someone else’s information?

We need to establish your authority before acting on a request for another person. An organization may also be responsible for information it controls in shared documents.

When is deleted information removed everywhere?

Active records, recovery copies, operational logs and records retained for legal obligations can follow different schedules. The response to your request explains the applicable scope, remaining retention and any relevant limitations.
