Why Citation
Your manuscript needs more than a reference list. It needs clear explanations, thoughtful revisions, and useful feedback. Citation brings those steps into the same workspace as the sources behind your paper.
Choose Citation as your EndNote alternative to start writing with AI and connected citations in a free account. Develop the draft in the browser, improve passages using the current document and saved source context, and apply only the suggestions you want to keep.
Bring an editor into the review, resolve feedback on the actual text, and export the complete manuscript. The paper stays at the center from the first section to the final bibliography.

Sources and styles
Bring your EndNote references into the draft through RIS, or find sources by URL, DOI, ISBN, or title. Save the source records your manuscript needs and insert connected citations while you explain the evidence.
Format references in APA 7, MLA 9, Chicago 18, Cite Them Right Harvard 12, IEEE, Vancouver (NLM), AMA 11, or ACS. A source correction updates the citations linked to that record in the document. A document style change reformats its linked citations and bibliography together.
Writing and review
EndNote’s Research Assistant works with attached PDFs, and Paperpal Preflight provides manuscript checks. Citation adds AI revisions inside its own document editor. Ask for a clearer explanation using the current draft and saved sources, compare the proposal, and apply the edit where you are writing.
Invite an editor to comment on passages and revise the manuscript with you. Use version history to revisit saved drafts and public web checks to inspect matching wording. These checks use accessible web sources, without private institutional repositories, and do not certify originality.
Imports and exports
Continue with the references you already have. Export selected EndNote records with the RefMan (RIS) output style, import the file into Citation, and add the sources to your document. Bring a manuscript through DOCX or TXT, or paste the draft and start revising.
Finish with a complete paper to share. Download DOCX for Word, PDF for a reading copy, or TXT for plain text. Export the source records as RIS or BibTeX so you can take the references alongside the manuscript.
