Research workflows,
ready for your agent.

Give your agent a repeatable way to gather sources, revise drafts, and review evidence. Each skill works through your existing Citation connection.

Research

Start with the sources

Collect source details with a clear record of where they came from. Keep unknown details visible.

Write

Keep the draft in context

Make the requested edit while preserving formatting, citations and other people’s changes.

Review

Make evidence easier to read

Inspect saved citations, explain gaps, and separate what is known from what needs a closer look.

Skills for ChatGPT

Import the Citation plugin package on a ChatGPT or Codex surface that supports custom plugins, then enable its skills and authorize the MCP connection. A directory listing is not required for personal installation.

Install the package for your selected host. Connect Citation MCP or the Citation CLI first. Skills provide instructions, while your connection provides access.

Good work starts
with clear instructions.

  1. Keep sources traceable

Keep source details traceable and unknown metadata visible.

  2. Keep edits in scope

Make the requested edit while keeping citations intact.

  3. Show what needs review

Show citation issues and gaps for you to review.

Review evidence

Inspect citation links and source details, then explain what the available evidence supports.

Use $citation-research to gather the sources I provide into my Citation document. Keep unknown details marked as missing.

Good questions.
Straight answers.

Does a skill give my agent access?

No. Connect Citation separately and approve the permissions the task needs. A skill supplies instructions, not credentials or new permissions. Sharing, publishing, deleting or contacting someone requires explicit authorization and a supported tool.

Which clients support these skills?

Choose ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity Computer, Kimi, Codex, or Claude Code in the setup selector. Each host uses its own plugin, upload, or project installation route. Availability depends on the host and your account.

How do I update an installed skill?

Extract the new package into a fresh folder and review the differences before replacing your installed copy. The installation commands preserve existing files.

Can a skill research the public web?

Citation’s connection works with saved documents and sources. It does not search the public web. A research skill can use sources you provide or separate research tools available to your agent.

Which skills are included?

The collection includes four workflows: gather sources, format references, revise a draft, and review evidence. Download them together or choose an individual package.

Do I need both MCP and the CLI?

No. Connect Citation through MCP or authenticate the CLI. The skill uses the tools available to your agent through that connection.

Where should I install the files?

Choose your host above for its upload or plugin package. Project installations use .agents/skills for Codex and .claude/skills for Claude Code. A project folder does not install a skill in a web assistant.

Can I review a skill before installing it?

Yes. Select Read instructions to inspect the skill, or download its package and read the SKILL.md file and supporting references before installation.

Will a skill overwrite my existing work?

The draft workflow instructs your agent to read the current document, make the requested edit, and preserve formatting and citations. Saving still depends on your connection permissions and document version checks.

Can I review evidence without editing a document?

Yes. The evidence review skill uses read access to inspect saved citation links and source details. It reports issues and gaps without requiring document editing permission.
