Insert citations

Place a citation beside a claim and keep it connected to its saved source.

Insert a citation

  1. Save the source to the document in Cite.
  2. Place your cursor where the citation should appear, usually beside the claim it supports.
  3. Choose Cite beside the saved source.
  4. Check the inserted citation in the context of the sentence.

Citation uses the style selected for the document. The inserted citation remains connected to its source details.

Correct source details in Cite so the document can use the saved reference. A citation you type as ordinary text does not create that same source connection.

Before removing a source, check whether the document still cites it. Open Citations in Check to review missing links or details.

Review the bibliography

Review the References area in Cite alongside the citations in your draft. Choose the required citation style before you copy or export the final references.
