Comments and history

Discuss a passage, follow a conversation, and revisit saved versions of your draft.

Discuss a passage

Select text and use its comment action to start a discussion about that passage. Open the document's comments to read threads and replies. Available actions depend on your access.

  1. Select the passage you want to discuss.
  2. Add a clear comment that explains the question or proposed change.
  3. Follow the thread and resolve it when the discussion is complete.

Preview a saved version

Open Version history and choose a saved version. Preview its text before deciding whether to restore it. Viewing history and restoring a version are separate actions.

Restore a version

If you have editing access, choose Restore version from the preview. Restoration brings back the saved text, title, and citation style. Your current version stays in history and sources remain available.

After a restore, review the citations against the available sources. A historical draft may refer to different material than your latest version.
