Free access

Citation is free with usage limits and requires an account. Sign in to use your workspace. Allowances for storage, sources, assistant use and checks can vary by account. Current allowances and recorded usage appear in account settings. Requests for more capacity are reviewed manually.

Checks and limitations

  • Source details and formatted references need review. Check authors, dates, titles and publication details against the source you actually used.
  • A matching passage is not proof of plagiarism, and no matches does not prove originality. Web checks use accessible public sources and do not cover every publication, private repository or university database.
  • Citation checks inspect saved citation links and metadata. They do not establish whether every claim is true or whether a source supports an argument.
  • PDF source extraction needs readable text. OCR is not available for scanned pages without text.

AI connections

Citation MCP

Connect a compatible AI assistant to one approved workspace. Read documents and sources, create or revise drafts, and format references within the permissions you grant.

Citation CLI

Use workspace tools from a terminal or script through the Citation MCP service. Commands support structured JSON output and a personal workspace token.

Citation skills

Give a supported agent repeatable workflows for gathering sources, formatting references, revising drafts and reviewing evidence. Skills require a separate authorized connection.

MCP and CLI search saved workspace content. Their citation checks inspect links and metadata, and their exports support TXT, BibTeX and RIS. These connections do not run public web searches or plagiarism scans. Client support and available actions depend on the connection and its permissions.
