Your research,
with Citation MCP.

Connect your assistant to Citation through Model Context Protocol. Find a document, work on a draft, and keep its sources close.

Read

Start with your saved work

Let your assistant find the right draft and read the sources you have already collected.

Write

Make a considered edit

Give your assistant the context and access it needs to revise a draft with version checks.

Cite

Keep references connected

Format saved sources and surface missing citation details without leaving the conversation.

Genspark: MCP connection

Custom connectors depend on account availability and organization policies.

  1. Open Skills or Connectors and choose a custom MCP connection.
  2. Enter the Citation server address and configure the offered authentication method.
  3. Authorize Citation or provide a scoped token in the private authentication field.
MCP server address
https://citation.co/mcp

Authorize only the permissions you need. Cloud assistants require a reachable HTTPS server. A local address works only with a client running on the same computer.

Let your tools
work together.

  1. Connect on your terms

Use OAuth or a token with scopes and expiry you control.

  2. Review before saving

Version checks protect edits. Request IDs keep retries safe.

  3. Stay in control

Revoke access anytime. Each action checks your permissions.

Good questions.
Straight answers.

Which clients can connect?

Choose your product in the setup selector. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and other compatible assistants use remote connections. Some products require an administrator, a published plugin, or a separate assistant. Model access inside Citation is listed separately.

Can I use a local server?

Yes, with a client on the same computer and an origin configured for that server. Cloud clients need a reachable HTTPS deployment. Server activation requires the MCP database migration and a configured origin.

What does a citation check cover?

Checks inspect saved citation links and source metadata. They do not verify every claim, prove originality or search the public web. MCP does not expose sharing, invitations, deletion, plagiarism scans or AI review.

How do I recover an interrupted edit?

Reuse the original request ID and the same input after an uncertain response. Read the latest document version before starting a different edit.

Do I need to upload my documents again?

No. MCP reads the documents and sources already saved in your connected Citation workspace. Search for a draft and continue with its saved content.

Can I connect more than one workspace?

Each connection is limited to one approved workspace. Create a separate connection or personal token for a different workspace.

Can I give my assistant read access only?

Yes. Start with document and source reading permissions. Add editing or export access only when your task needs it.

Can my assistant edit an existing draft?

Yes, with document editing permission. Read the latest version first, then save the requested change with that version. Conflicting saves are rejected.

Which formats can I export?

Export saved document text as TXT or references as BibTeX and RIS. Exporting requires the corresponding permission on your connection.

How do I revoke a connection?

Open MCP connections in Citation settings and revoke the connection or personal token. Removing workspace membership also ends access to that workspace.
