# Import a draft Bring a DOCX or TXT draft into an editable Citation document. ## Prepare your file The document import accepts DOCX and TXT files up to 4 MB. Keep the original file so you can compare the imported result. > PDF source upload and library upload have different purposes. Use draft import when you want to edit the imported text. ## Import the draft 1. Open the workspace and choose the draft import action, or use Import draft beside an open document. 2. Select your DOCX or TXT file. 3. Review the resulting document, including headings, lists, tables, and special formatting. 4. Check source information and reconnect citations where needed. ## Bring work from another app For another writing tool, use the supported exchange format listed under its Integrations entry. Some integrations also accept Markdown. Those options are separate from the document toolbar's DOCX and TXT import. - [Connect your apps](/docs/integrations) - [Work with Microsoft Word](/docs/word) ## If import fails Check the file type and size, then read the error message. If a document cannot be converted, try exporting a fresh DOCX or TXT copy from the original app. Review the result before continuing work.
