# Citation styles and bibliography Choose a supported style and prepare references for your document or another tool. ## Choose a style Use the citation style selector in the document toolbar. Choose the edition or format requested by your course, publisher, or organization. Review citations and references after changing it. ## Supported styles | Style | Short name | | --- | --- | | APA 7th edition | APA 7 | | MLA 9th edition | MLA 9 | | Chicago 18 · Author and Date | Chicago | | Chicago 18 · Notes & Bibliography | Chicago notes | | Cite Them Right Harvard 12 | Harvard | | IEEE | IEEE | | Vancouver (NLM) | Vancouver | | AMA 11th edition | AMA 11 | | ACS | ACS | ## Prepare your references The References area in Cite shows the bibliography for the saved sources. Review the entries and use Copy all when you need the formatted references elsewhere. To move reference data to another tool, open Export and choose Sources as BibTeX or Sources as RIS. These files transfer reference data rather than the full document layout. ## Check the details Formatting depends on the information saved with each source. Review author names, dates, titles, and publication details. A correctly formatted entry still needs to describe the source you actually used. - [Review source details](/docs/adding-sources) - [Export your work](/docs/exporting)
