# Check citations

Find missing source details, repeated references, and broken citation connections.

## Review your references

1. Open your document and choose Check.
2. Choose Citations to see the linked source count and any issues to review.
3. Use Review source to correct an entry, or View sources to return to Cite.

## Resolve an issue

- Fill in missing details when you can confirm them from the original source.
- Review repeated sources and keep the reference that describes the work correctly.
- Check citation links if an inserted citation no longer has its saved source.

After saving a correction, return to Citations and review the remaining issues.

## Understand the result

> Details complete means the checks found no remaining metadata issues. It does not verify that a reference is accurate or that it supports a particular claim.
